Hi, I’m Lexi.
I am a suicidologist and health equity expert. I leverage my comprehensive education in the History of Science, Medicine, Public Health, and Social and Behavioral Sciences from Yale University and my life experiences to create equitable health systems.
Health equity goes beyond mere sufficiency of resources; it embodies the presence of apt resources that individuals can effectively utilize.
2024 PINK with Purpose Recipient
Lexi is one of ten inspiring changemakers with innovative projects that Victoria’s Secret & Co. and The Jed Foundation (JED) granted $25,000 and mentorship. As an awardee, Lexi was able to go to NYC to celebrate, share her story, and connect with her fellow awardees and all the incredible mentors at The Jed Foundation, Pink, and LoveIsLouder. This grant enabled Lexi to launch Wellness 'N Color, a suicide prevention non-profit for Black women+ that uses non-clinical community-based programming to combat stigma, save lives, and show our community that they are not alone.
Lexi Hopkins Cunningham, MPH is a dedicated and passionate suicidologist, health equity consultant, and founder and executive director of Wellness ‘N Color. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Yale University. Her research looks at the history of suicide in Black communities and how that impacts the modern suicide crisis among Black youth, help-seeking, and adult suicidal behaviors. Lexi leverages her extensive education, professional training, and lived experiences to develop and implement high-impact programs. Driven by a deep understanding of the systemic barriers impacting healthcare access and outcomes for Black individuals. Lexi is committed to pursuing equitable, culturally competent, and sustainable solutions. Lexi Hopkins contributes significantly to advancing health equity and wellness within underrepresented communities through her unwavering dedication and innovative approach.

Whether through policy recommendations, community initiatives, or personal behaviors I strive to create solutions that are realistic, feasible, and capable of making a tangible impact on improving health outcomes.

Health and wellness solutions should be readily available to all members of the community, regardless of socio-economic status or other potential barriers. By designing interventions that are affordable and accessible, I aim to break down systemic barriers and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to engage in activities that promote well-being

By tailoring solutions to the specific needs and cultural nuances of each community, I foster a sense of ownership and empowerment, promoting sustainable improvements in health and wellness.
